Told ya I'd be back with a baby card. :) So here I am. How has your Friday been so far?! I had big plans to clean my car, change the mats, hoover, you know.. but guess what?! It hasn't happened. Too cold out there. Never thought I'd say that.. neither did you.. did ya?! But I just can't get my hands and feet warmed up today! So instead I've sat colouring and scheduling posts. :) Nice, huh?
So, did anyone see the gorgeous Melissa's tutorial over at Some Odd Girl the other day?! Check it out HERE!! Well, I just had to have a go myself.
Being that I sold the majority of my Copics not long ago, I've been tryna extra hard to experiment more with my ProMarkers and FlexMarkers to try and get the most out of them. Plus I wanna try and change peoples minds about the Letraset range!!
So it was about time to play with shadows. Specifically shadows that fall on skin. Areas away from the light source and places which fall under clothes. You'll KWIM when I show you my card.. if I've got it right!! I need thoughts from the experts here - so cast your judging eye if you will.
So I guess I'll start by listing the colours I've used.
Skin - Blush, Soft Peach, Rose Peach, Burnt Orange, Baby Pink, Lavender
Baby Skin - Blush, Dusky Pink, Soft Peach
Hair - Cocoa, Henna, Burnt Umber, Umber
Eyes - Grass, Emerald, Lush Green
Pale Pink, Pastel Pink, Cocktail Pink
Primrose, Soft Lime, Lemon
Oatmeal, Apricot
Raw Sienna, Cocoa, Walnut
I wish I'd kept the little scrap I had experimented on. I used a few purples to try and achieve what I wanted. My go to skin colour is a little on the paler side with a more pinkish sorta depth.. so at first I tried the Lilac PM, but it gave the skin an almost ghoulish look.. good for halloween I guess. I then tried Orchid, as it has a more pink depth to it.. but it was almost too pink. So I eventually settled with Lavender.. twas a little perfect.. what do you think?
I'd love you PM users to give this a go yourselves and give me FEEDBACK on what you think about it, and how you went about it.Which colours did you use? Did you have any faves?
So how about the rest of the card. I used some yummy papers from a new My Minds Eye collection. Naturally. These soft colours are perfect for a baby type card. I've tied some pale, oh so pale, coral seam binding from The Ribbon Girl and added a little heart tag using some brown bakers twine. The sentiment has been created using some Jenni Bowlin alpha stickers.. which.. are apparently.. really hard to get hold of now!! WHY?! They're the perfect size for just about everything!!
As I'm eagerly awaiting the arrival of my green Smash* book.. I've been tryna make my cards a little more random.. so the little cluster of embellishments in the bottom right is the look I'm tryna achieve. You know how it is.. every scrap has it's use! :)
Okay, enough chit chat! Be you guys have missed these posts.. NAAAAT!! Over and out.
