Old Fashioned Bookworm

Howdy partner!! How the bloody hell are ya?! Know how many days it is til Christmas?! Okay, I'm sorry. I'm a little worried too. But hey, we say this every year and we're never any more organised, are we? :)

So instead, I've got something totally NOT Christmas related for ya. Remember the Simply Sassy Release of Set 11?! Well here's Book Club. I promised myself that this cutie would be the first I coloured up and here she is. Ahh man, I love her. :)

I made this card specifically to enter the current Sugar Bowl challenge. I followed the sketch and I also tried something 'unusual' - Faux Letterpress. That is what it's called, right? When you press an ink pad into one side of your embossing folder then when it embosses the embossed (or debossed - depending on which side you ink up) side it's a different colour. Awesome. Or so I think. :) So yeah, I tried that out for the brown base of my card. My card base is some delicious lemon yellow cardstock from my local craft shop. Yum. I have distressed and doodled my edges, of course. I have used some lovely papers from MME - Rosy 6x6 collection. Can't get enough of these papers lately. So, onto the nitty gritty.

That big bow? Oh, that's just some of the most delicious gingham ribbon from The Ribbon Girl - 22mm Green/Cream Check Gingham. I have tied it using my bow easy and added some pink bakers twine and a lovely antique bronze key charm.

Wanna know some colours? Okay. :)
Skin - E000, E00, E01, E11; R20, R32
Hair - E55, E57, E59; I decided to leave a white gap this time, for something different
Greens - Mint Green, Emerald, Lush Green
Jeggings - Cornflower, China Blue, Midnight Blue
Pinks - Sunkissed Pink, Coral, Antique Pink
Browns - Cocoa, Chestnut, Walnut
I have paper pieced the two books she's carrying. That's what I love about stamps - tooo easy!

Here's the picture I posted over on the Sugar Nellies FB group. That sentiment is from Paper Makeup - Read a Book. Love it!! Lots! :) WOC flowers and some white pearls finish it off nicely me thinks.

You know when you sit down to make a card.. just because you wanna? No stresses, no rushes, no orders. Just relaxing. :) They always turn out the best, right? Apart from the ones you make when you have someone special in mind!
