PaperPlay Challenges Week 37

Good morning PaperPlayers!! How's your week been so far?! I've had three long days and BOY I'm ready for a day off. Not back in til Sunday! Yippeeee. :)
This week over at PaperPlay we want to see a combination of

PUNCHES AND DIES

on your project.

The prize up for grabs is one stamp from Whiff of Joy. Need any more reason to enter? Heehee. If you need a little inspiration stay tuned.. I got a card for ya.

I have used a die to create a circle in the background and a punch to create the edges of my banner shape. I have used various papers from Crate Papers Restoration collection to create a 'gamer' sort of theme for this card.

The 'Happy Birthday' sentiment from Hero Arts has been stamped in Chestnut Roan Chalk Ink onto some woodgrain paper from the same paper collection. I have torn the bottom for some added texture and tied some lime green bakers twine around it. I've extended it off the side of the card by about 1/4" each side, I've seen this a lot around blog land lately and really liked the effect.

Here is a shot of the inside of the card. I've used a sentiment from LOTV on another die cut piece of More Mustard cardstock from SU! alongside two more domino pieces I have cut from a piece of patterned paper from the Restoration collection. The 'SON' up the side and on the front is from the Star Prints stamp set from PTI.

I would like to enter this card into these challenges:
× Crafting for All Seasons - Birthday
× Top Tip Tuesday - Birthday Time
× Cards for Men - Anything but Square
× Crafty Boots - Anything Goes

Head on over to the PaperPlay Challenge Blog NOW if you need some inspiration. The girls have got plenty for ya! ;)

PaperPlay Challenges

Good morning PaperPlayers! ;) Hopefully this post will go live when it should and I'll still be sound asleep having a much needed lie in!

Another Thursday, another PaperPlay Challenge with inspiration from Team A this week! ;)

MAKE YOUR OWN FLOWERS

So.. I won't lie.. I kinda chickened out with this one and created a 'layered' flower. *cough* Well, that's what I'm gonna call it and I'm sticking with it. I did attempt to make some rolled flowers, you know the ones I was getting asked for tutorials for left, right and centre a few months back? Thing is.. I've lost the knack. Totally. I tried about 5 times and none of those attempts were happening. Typical.

I've created a card and 'matching' bookmark to show you. I made these for my next door neighbours birthday, which was actually yesterday. :) She's always pottering around in the garden, and loves her flowers so I thought this image from LOTV would be perfecto.

I apologise for the dark photos - Autumn is definitely upon us, which I'm loving.. although the light is poop for taking decent photos. Hmm. I best work something out, huh?

I created a little matching bookmark with the same image, the recipient likes to read a lot so I thought it would be the perfect gift for her.

Here is a shot of the card. I've used some delicious papers from Prima and used some cardstock from Papercuts for my cardbase. I stamped the image in Pretty in Pink ink from SU! and left it uncoloured for a more subtle look. A lot of WOC flowers, liquid pearls, distressing and doodling. Oh, and a little tag from PTI.

The bookmark. Isn't she sweet? :)

I would like to enter this project into these challenges:
× Bearly Mine - Flowers, Flowers, Flowers
× Karen's Doodles - Gift Set
× My Time To Craft - In Full Bloom
× Ribbon Carousel - All Tied Up

Head on over to PaperPlay Challenges now and see what the rest of the team have put together to inspire ya this week. The lucky winner will receive a $15 voucher for Simon Says Stamp! Good luck.

PaperPlay Challenges - "Recipe"

Surprise, surprise. I had this post scheduled for 9:00am but Blogger just magically turned it back into a draft. Good job I checked - hey?

Good Morning PaperPlayers! :)

Did ya notice the new logo in my sidebar? ;) Be sure to stop by next Wednesday - you won't wanna miss this release, let me tell ya! I am SUPER excited about the whole thing!!

It was my day off work yesterday - and I managed to get a load of stuff done. I wish I could have just stopped in bed all day - but things never work like that!! Back to work again today - so hopefully my post will go live when it should!

Sorry my blog has been so quiet lately - I feel so drained all of the time and it seems like my mojo has disappeared again. It best make it's way home soon though - I have a lot of commissions and DT work to catch up on.

Another fortnight down, time for another challenge for the A-Team over at PaperPlay Challenges!! :)

This week we have a recipe challenge for ya! We wanna see..

THREE DIFFERENT EMBELLISHMENTS
2 PATTERNED PAPERS
1 PIECE OF LACE

Fun, right! :) Our sponsor this week is Just Some Lines.

Since my bookmarks were a sell-out at the fayre on Friday - I decided I best get some more made. So here you have it..

Another addicting corner bookmark - funny, everytime I sit down to make one of these I always want to make more. Perhaps I should force myself to make another one and then my mojo might sprout all over!! :)

I've used some of the gorgeous Bo Bunny - Gabrielle patterned paper (#1). I have stamped a very popular (with the public) sentiment from Paper Makeup Stamps in Chestnut Roan Chalk Ink and die cut it using a Labels Sixteen nestie. I have added my custom doodles and some Stickles around the outside edge. #1 embellishment. I added a strip of yummy lace from The Ribbon Girl below my strip of patterned paper #2 and cut the ends slightly longer than the bookmark. I sorta love the 'rustic' shabby chic look it gives. As for embellishment #2 I added the must have WOC flower - a sweetheart blossom and a semi open rose and embellishment #3 some Kaisercraft rhinestones and pearls. :)

I would like to enter this bookmark into these challenges:

I also hope to get a lot more of these little boomarks made for both a Halloween Fayre and a Christmas Fayre coming up in the next few months (obviously) - so if you see a lot of my blog and get a little sick.. please, just tell me! Apart from that.. exciting times in my life on the craft front!

PaperPlay Challenges - "Christmas in August"

Day 3 of work tomorrow. A four hour shift on the tills I think. I hope it's cooler than it was on Monday. I was HOT - I was filling shelves and moving heavy boxes and was quite literally dead by the end of the four hours. I'm sure it'll just be until I get into a routine. Let's hope so anyway. I managed to get my hands on two 'Home Bargains' polo shirts so I won't stick out like a sore thumb anymore - it seems like I won't be the new girl for much longer either. Yippee!! Anywho..

It's time for another PaperPlay challenge today, and we have a theme which is becoming increasingly popular in blogland.. and that's Christmas.

CHRISTMAS IN AUGUST

Easy peasy. Perhaps you have some patterned paper collections left over from last year that you want to use up. What a perfect excuse!!

Here is what I came up with using paper from Echo Park - Everybody Loves Christmas collection which I used very sparingly last year but now I'm forcing myself to use it because I love new stash more than hoarded stash. I just wish it hadn't taken me two years of my crafting life to realise that! HA.

I have used some scrummy blue cardstock from Papercuts and distressed and doodled all edges. The sentiment is actually a portion for the back of one of the patterned papers. Perfect for this image - is it not! ;) I added some ickle felt snowflakes which I bought from WHSmith last Christmas, another hoarded item. They feel lovely, but are a bugger to peel off the backing paper without ripping them.

I made this card before I bought my Sakura Souffle pen, hence why the white dots on her eyes look a little faded! I have coloured her hair and skin using Copics and the rest using PMs. It has only taken me like.. a year.. to start getting comfortable with certain combos of PM's. I need to start writing them down too before I forget so I can have them to hand when I come to colour.

I like the whole of the image - except her jeans. I need a LOT more practice with those!! I've got me a colour combo for jeans but boy - I just messed this one up - big style! I have fussy cut Mae out and placed her on the card using dimensionals.

I would like to enter this card into these challenges:
× Use it Tuesday - It's a Two-fer
× Stamps and Fun - Christmas Card
× Top Tip Tuesday - Colour Challenge
I hope the pink is okay - if not please disqualify me.
× Stampalot Challenge - Whatever you Fancy

PaperPlay Challenges - "Ribbon, Lace and Buttons"

Another Thursday.. Another PaperPlay Challenge!! Can you believe it's almost the end of July?! Where has this year gone?! We have a super fun challenge for you girly girls this week!!

We want to see..

RIBBON, LACE AND BUTTONS

What a combo!! I had a pretty hard job, I won't lie. I used to LOVE using buttons on my cards.. and I have a TONNE.. but you know how novelties die off and you find something else that fascinates you.. well it was good to get those beautiful buttons out again!!

I knew which image I wanted to use from the off. I recently won the entire June release from TGF so wanted to use one of the princesses.. ribbon and lace suits those to a tee, right?!

This is gorgeous Princess no. 03. I have coloured her hair and skin using Copics, her crown using ProMarkers and paper pieced the rest of her using paper from Fancy Pants - It's the Little Things.

The cute little castle is from Pollycraft Cherry Kisses collection which have also coloured using ProMarkers. I thought this would be perfect. I have fussy cut the princess and used a circle nestie.

Both my pink twill stripe ribbon and white lace are from The Ribbon Girl, as for my buttons.. they're from various Basic Grey collections. I have added pink bakers twine to the largest button and added liquid pearls around and about the card. As usual I have used Frayed Burlap DI and a brown fineliner to add definition the the edges of my paper and cardstock.

A little Prima flower and a final tag of ribbon in the top corner finish off this card. Not a WOC flower in sight! ;)

I would like to enter this card into these challenges:
× Sparkles Forum - Elegance and Lace

Be sure to stop by the PaperPlay Challenge Blog and get some more inspiration from the other awesome ladies for this triple embellishment challenge and check out the prize the lucky winner will be receiving! :)

PaperPlay Challenges - "Fruity"

Hey guys!! How has your week been so far? HOT I hope, I know it's been HOT here in the north east. Too HOT infact - it makes me so sleepy! Regular cat naps and coffee are in order throughout the day! I thought the pretty big thunderstorm and downpour yesterday would have cleared the air.. no such luck.

Anywho, this week I have another mini accordian album to show you (I've been well and truely bitten by the bug), again using some images from Some Odd Girl (I admit - I'm in love).. It is for this weeks challenge over at PaperPlay.. and that is..

..::FRUITY::..

Heehee. What a title for a challenge, right?! It's awesome. It can mean all sorts of things - I have taken the challenge quite literally and gone with some images of yummy fruit. Lemons, strawberries and a watermelon (I wish I had downloaded the Cherries now..). Reminds me of a fruit salad, perfect for a summer time snack straight from the fridge. Okay, stop it, you're making my mouth water.

How about the PRIZE?! The lucky winner will recieve a $15 voucher from Simon Says Stamp.

*****************************************

Onto my project.. I have used some kraft-ish coloured envelopes available from WHSmith. They measure roughly 4"x3 3/4" so they are perfect for ickle mini albums! :)

The front cover consists of some Garden Green SU! cardstock as well as a few scraps of paper from Echo Park - For the Record collection which I have used throughout this album. Along side some letter and accent stickers from the same collection. I have added my own doodles as well as some sponged distressing using Frayed Burlap DI to tie everything together.

This is the first spread - they are two seperate pages, but the two styles of yellow patterned paper help tie them together. I have scaled two strawberries down and the watermelon has been scaled up slightly. Both have been coloured using PMs and fussy cut out.

Is it just me, or do you want to take those lemons home?! HELLO!! This photo makes it appear like all my papers are adhered wonky - honestly.. they're not. I'm thinking it was the weird angle I had my camera at *rolls eyes* will I ever get anything 100%?! LOL!!

Here are all four pages together, slightly bent so you get the idea behind the whole 'accordian' thing. Really, in hindsight, I should have taken a photo from the top.. gosh. Also, I wish I had swapped the lemon and watermelon page around. Gahh!! Why do us crafters do this to ourselves?! Someone, please tell me it's fine!! LOL.

Here is a photo of the pullouts which slot into each envelope (they provide some sturdy-ness as well as being functional). Both are double sided, with patterned paper on one side and a masked stamped border on the other using coordinating SU! inks and some mini doilies from Waltzing Mouse.

*****************************************

How'd ya like it?! I didn't want to make it overly summery - hence the choice of paper. I was going to use Cosmo Cricket Salt Air - but it was just tooo summer for my liking.

Did ya notice my new watermark?! Curtosy of the lovely Ann Vento!! I LOVE the font! :)

*****************************************

I would like to enter this mini album into these challenges:
× Bearly Mine - Anything Goes
× Digital Tuesday - Bling it Up
× Going Grey - Summer
× Stamps and Fun - Colour combo: Red and Yellow
× My Time To Craft - A La Carte

I can't wait to see what you guys come up with for this fun challenge - head on over to the PaperPlay blog now and see what the rest of the awesome team have come up with to inspire you.

PaperPlay - Father's Day/ Card for a Male

Morning guys, how are you all?! This is my first ever post for PaperPlay Challenges - I cannot even begin to tell you how excited I am!!

First things first.. the theme this week over is..

"FATHER'S DAY/ MAN'S CARD"

We've been very kindly sponsored by Love To Stamp, and the lucky winner will recieve a $15 voucher!

So, I've gone for a hybrid of the two.. using an adorable digi from Some Odd Girl©. Just so you know.. I thought of the sentiment ALL BY MYSELF! Awesome, I know! ;)

The card came together pretty fast - if you're a follower of my blog you will probably recognise this layout. I can't get away from it. I spotted it on someones blog aaaaages ago and I can't remember who it was to give them credit! It has stuck with me ever since though and I use it. A LOT! The little Magnolia die was sent to me by my lovely friend Roz. She cut me a bunch from white cardstock, so I've 'coloured' this one with Old Paper DI to coordinate it with the rest of the card - not overly sure how well that went.. but there you have it.

Supplies
Cardstock: SU! Naturals Ivory; Crumb Cake
Patterned Paper: Kaisercraft - Homemade paper pad
Stamps: Studio G alpha, Some Odd Girl© Super Tobie
Ink: SU!; Soft Suede; Old Paper DI
Embellishments: Coffee button, brown bakers twine from The Ribbon Girl; brown Prima pearl
Tools: WRMK - Corner Chomper; SU! 1 1/4" square punch; Oval nesties;
Misc: brown fineliner

I hope to see you over there. I know us crafters generally find it difficult to produce those male cards, so this challenge may take you outside of your preferred comfort zone, but TRY IT!! You never know - you might be chuffed with the results!!

I would like to enter this card into these challenges:
× Crafting for all Seasons - Father's Day
× Ambers Crafts and Stuff - Special Man
× Crafts and Me - Stamp Something [I stamped my sentiment - letter by letter - I hope that counts!]
× The Sisterhood of Crafters - Celebrating Dad/ Man in your life
× The Paper Variety - For The Guys
× Timeless Tuesdays - Father's Day
× The Stamping Boutique - Men Only
× Critter Challenge - Let's get Krafty
× The Kraft Journal - It's a Man Thing

Enjoy the rest of your day whatever you may be doing! xo Lou.

Exciting News!! PaperPlay Challenges!! ***

Hey all, just a quick post tonight, before I forget.. again..

So.. last week.. Sandie Dunne.. awesome lady.. asked how I was getting on with all of my DT positions.. and I told her.. honestly.. that I very rarely sleep! LOL. But I am TOTALLY enjoying it! I'm having a blast working with so many different DT's!!

She then went on to ask me if I would like to be a member of her DT on her very own challenge blog PaperPlay Challenges which she has been running for over two years now.

How could I say no!? Hand picked from all of those crafters out there - how could I say no?!

PaperPlay Challenges

So now the race is on to get a card made for Thursday's challenge. My lips are sealed about what it is. My official post doesn't start until the 23rd, but Sandie said I could make a card for the next challenge, and I love to set myself a goal! LOL. So keep your eyes peeled!! ;)
