The Stamping Bazaar.. ::Marvin the Bat::

Hey there, thank you so much for stopping by today!! This is my first ever post as a DT member for The Stamping Bazaar!! I'm super thrilled to be part of the uber talented team and having the opportunity to work with Marina's aMAZing images - all of which can be found HERE in the Stamping Bazaar Store.

Marvin the Bat was the critter that first caught my eye when I was introduced to TSB images, and I think he will remain my all time fave - he is just thee cutest. For my first card I decided to colour up Marvin the Bat who can be found HERE in digi form over in the store. I've coloured him using a black Prisma and Sansodor.

I know he's intended for Halloween, but I've made loads of cards with him and not one has been a Halloween one. I think it's great when you can find multiple uses for your stamps and digis, and Marvin is no exception. He is too cute to just come out on 31st October. I have steered away from my comfort zone slightly (a LOT) with this card and gone for an all pink sort of set up. Perfect for a girly girl and the sentiment allows for any sort of message to be written on the inside.

Pear Tree Designs - Challenge #46 - Colourful

Hey guys, I'm so glad you could stop by today. I would like to thank all the entrants to last weeks  'Easter' challenge, there were so many gorgeous entries, with cute little chicks and rabbits and the more traditional daffodils and crosses. The winner of the challenge is JOYCE. Congrats, please get in touch with Donna atmailto:atpeartreedesigns2011@yahoo.co.uk to claim your prize.

I have a bright 'n' cheerful card to share with you all today, so lets get started..

The challenge over a Pear Tree Designs this week is 'COLOURFUL' - we want to see bright and colourful cards and creations.

The sponsor this week is ..

..and the winner will receive a choice of 5 x digital images or 4 x digital images and 1 x digital paper pack!

Here is my take on the challenge..

I used a Kraft card base as usual - this is Crumb Cake from SU! along with some DeLovely paper from Cosmo Cricket that I usually have a real hard time using as I can't seem to get the colours to work - but I sorta like how this one turned out! I coloured the gorgeous teapot from our sponsor this week with ProMarkers in very bright shades of lime green and pink! LOL. I followed a card sketch I have had saved for ages, as it helped the creative juices to flow. I have added a sticker from the DeLovely collection along with some butterflies I have made using a Martha Stewart 3 in 1 butterfly punch.

I created the sentiment using word and printed it off onto more Kraft cardstock - this time from Bazzil. I think cut it down and used a square punch to create the banner shape on one side. I hope all of these colours have inspired you to create something colourful too. Hop on over to Pear Tree Designs now to see what the rest of the ladies have created using the theme, and why not show us your colourful creations too?!

I would like to enter this card into these challenges:
× Flutter By Wednesday - Open; include butterfly, fairy or angel
× I Love ProMarkers - #62 Anything Goes
× Paper Pretties - Pink, Green + Neutral
× Ladybug Crafts - Anything Goes
× Incy Wincy - #90 Bright and Bold

Enjoy your day, whatever you're doing. xo Lou.

[Note: This will be my last DT card for PTD until the end of May beginning of June time - what with uni work and other commitments I've asked to go on a break just until things ease off a bit. Try not to miss me too much! I promise I'll be back with a bang! ;) ]

Tickled Pink Stamps GDT Call!!

Hey there, how has your day been so far? I was up bright and early at 8:30am despite not going to bed until after 1:30am, it will catch up with me later, I'm sure!! Anywho.. I've had a great time getting ahead with some DT makes as well as organising the uni notes I've made over the past few weeks for my dissertation. They were all over the place - which totally isn't me, and it was bugging me no end, so something had to be done about it! LOL. I managed to get my creation - a tag - for the TPS GDT Call finished up last night, not sure I'm 100% sure about it, but I thought hey.. you've gotta be in it to win it!!

Here is the sketch canditates had to follow:

And here is my take on it:

I printed Lil' Lolita Ivy super huge, almost 6" so I could go all out and have real fun colouring her in grayscale. I used Basic Grey Pyrus patterned paper along with Bazzill Kraft cardstock.

Here is a close up of the black and gray beauty. I love how shiny her little top hat looks!

These gorgeously yummy flowers are from Wild Orchid Crafts, I teamed them up with some Prima flowers and chocolate buttons threaded with linen twine.

These tags are from PTI Tiny Tags stamp set with coordinating die. I used a Studio G stamp alpha stamp set to create the sentiment using SU! Pumpkin Pie ink.

I would like to enter this card into these challenges:
× Shannon's Sentiments - Anything But a Card
× Delicious Doodles - Anything Goes
× Joyful Stamper - Anything Goes
× Mami Doodles - #24 Crazy for Kraft

Goodness, the amount of talented ladies who entered just blew my mind. I didn't think I stood a chance! I want to thank all of the Sassy ladies who voted for me and had confidence in my creations!! I will not let you down!! No way, no how!!

I cannot wait to get started and inspire all of the wonderful crafters who stop by the Simply Sassy Blog each day for their daily dose of Sassyness!

I had planned on making a card to post with my announcement, but I'm not going to lie.. I messed up the colouring of Oh La La, and I was so annoyed that I had to walk away from it. But I promise I'll be back with a Simply Sassy creation as soon as time allows!

You can check out the rest of the talented DT by clicking on their links on my Design Team Resume page at the top. Enjoy - they really are amazing designers!

Lil' Pinkette August

Hey, hey! Thank you for stopping by today. I've just had my regular 6 week hair cut. Isn't it just the best feeling ever when you get your hair cut, and and even better feeling getting it cut? I could just do with a prop for my head so I could have a little shut eye - it's so relaxing! I'm in a much better mood to get on with my work now! :) It's a shame I have nowhere nice to go tonight to show it off. As a matter of fact - I may have a look and see what is on at the pictures! LOL. Anywho..

If you haven't seen the new release of the Easter Stamping Bazaar images yet, check out my post HERE to get all the info. They're super cute - you don't want to miss them!

On to my card for today - which is one of three in the making for Tickled Pink Stamps and their challenges and GDT call they've got going on at the moment - so keep your eyes peeled for the other two! This card is for Challenge #15, which is a sketch challenge.. how could I not?! Here is the sketch put together by the very talented Emma..

Sketch #2

And here is my take on it.. I have used Lil' Pinkette August - she is my FAVE of the Lil' Pinkette release. What a real sweetie!! I have used Sassafras Indie Girl paper as well as some Kraft and Naturals Ivory cardstock. I have added some stitching on the heart panel - oh yes, I managed to get some thread for my much deprived Janome!! Bless him. I had to dust him off and get him all threaded again!

I have coloured August using ProMarkers (I think I could have worked on her hair a bit more.. oops) and added some Lime Green bakers twine from The Ribbon Girl as the wire from her headphones. I'm in love with the braid in her hair - how cute!

I added a homemade hat pin, a Wild Orchid Crafts mini rose, a Papermania gem brad and a Prima pearl as added embellishments. I'm on a bit of a green kick lately! LOL. The sentiment is from a Hero Arts set stamped in Chestnut Roan chalk ink - which I ordered off DoCrafts last week - I have been looking for stockists of these for forEVA! I'm so glad I found some, the coverage is just perfect!

I would like to enter this card into these challenges:
× Tickled Pink Stamps - #15 Sketch Challenge
× Nettie G's - Use your favourite digi
× Bling It On - A digi stamp and some bling
× Cute and Girly - April Challenge

Thats all I got for you today, so while I'm actually in the mood to get some work done I'm going to scoot! Enjoy the rest of your night whatever you're doing! xo

Pear Tree Designs - Challenge #45 - Easter

Good morning everyone, thanks for stopping by. I'm sorry I don't have a card to share with you today - as sad as I am to say it, life has to come before blogging, and with my dissertation deadline looming I really want to get stuck into the workload. Roll on the end of May when I can breathe a HUGE sigh of relief once my 12,000 word dissertation is handed in, another 2,000 word essay on environmental sustainability is handed in and I've sat three exams, one of which is three hours long. Gahhh!! 28th of May is the grad ball and I certainly am going to let my hair down - big style!!

Anywho, the challenge over at Pear Tree Designs this week is EASTER, we want to see your Easter creations, so roll on the cute bunnies and chicks I hope we'll be seeing! :D

Pop on over to Pear Tree Designs to see what the rest of the DT have created, and don't forget, we have a DT call at the moment see THIS post for details.

Take care, xo Lou.

Lexi's Creations - Challenge #38 - Anything but a CARD!

Morning everyone!! I've been working away like a trooper over the weekend, I want this dissertation finished THIS WEEKEND so I have time to revise for my three exams and plan my last ever 2000 word assignment. I have a simple little bookmark to share with you today, which is perfect for a child.

Thank you to everyone who joined in with our RIBBON - BUT NO KNOT OR BOW challenge last fortnight. It was great to see the creative use of ribbon! :) Congratulations to the Winner #59 Jennifer and GD #83 Sande.

The challenge this fortnight over at Lexi's Creations is 'ANYTHING BUT A CARD'. We want to see a project which doesn't involve a greeting card. I have chosen to make an oh so addictive bookmark. The tutorial can be found over on the SCS forum, HERE is the link.

I have used Georgina Giraffe for this cute little bookmark - I have gone along with a 'children' theme, which is a bit unusal for me, but I couldn't resist this little cutie. Perfect for a little bookmark, and these little bookmarks make the perfect gifts for friends and family.

They are addictive to make, and although I haven't added patterned paper to this one, they are great for using up your scraps. You can make them any size you like, but I tend to stick to 4" square.

I would like to enter this into these challenges:
× Anita be Stampin' - Anything Goes
× A Spoonful of Sugar - All Creatures Great and Small
× DDH - Stitches

Thanks for stopping by today. Head on over to Lexi's Creations and get some inspiration from the talented design team, and then show us your projects, I can't wait to see what you all come up with! xo

Friday 15 April 2011

My Forever Friend..

What a Friday I've had!! Good job I had a (relatively) early night last night. I was up super early running errands for my Mam and Gran, then I went over the house with the hoover before my Mam gets back off her holiday tomorrow. THEN.. I sat down to do some more of my dissertation. THEN.. I hit blogland/ Facebook/ Trimcraft. Heehee.

Over on the SUGAR NELLIE Facebook group this Monday a new challenge was posted. It was an inspiration challenge, and here..

..is the inspiration!! STRAWBERRY DELISH! I had trouble thinking of a project inbetween drooling. It does look yummy, doesn't it?

So I decided to make a tag using My Friend Kitty.. I got the idea for making the tag using Spellbinders Nestabilities from THIS HERE talented ladies blog post! I can see this being a popular project with me, I plan on making many more, infact, when I sat down to cut these pieces out, I cut out 3 more of each for future tags! ;) Keep your eyes peeled.

I tried to create a little scene with the grass and the strawberries and butterflies. I'm so glad I got the MS grass punch, it really helps to ground images!

Here she is!! What a cutie!! Her legwarmers have got to be some of my FAVE from all the Simply Sassy stamps. They're just adorable. As for her expression - she makes me smile everytime.

That yummy strawberry ribbon is from MeiFlower Crafts, I thought it was perfect for the theme. I embossed some PTI Pure Poppy cardstock using my Candy Strip EF for the background, and punched some pink butterflies to complete the 'scene'. The rub-on is from October Afternoon which I have made into a banner and curled to add a bit more dimension.

Just like I enjoy decorating the inside of my card, I think I quite like decorating the back of tags - it finishes them off nicely. I used a sentiment and a to: and from: from some PTI sets, along with my handmade stamp.

This last picture shows the braided twine I made to serve as the string for the tag. I used lime green, red and pink bakers twine from The Ribbon Girl and attatched it with some linen thread which I threaded through the hole in the flower shaped reinforcer! :)

I would like to enter this tag into these challenges:
× Aud Sentiments - Anything Goes
× Digi Doodles - Stripes
× Rainbow Lady's Challenge Blog - Springtime
× Amber's Crafts and Stuff - My Favourite Things - Kraft cardstock, stamped images, ribbon, nesties, punches
× Crafts and Me Challenges - Ribbon
× Creative Card Crew - Spring
Thanks for stopping by today. Off for some teaaa! xo Lou.

A New Stamping Bazaar Team Member..

.. ME! :D I'm soooo thrilled I can let this loose and tell you all now.

I applied to the call a few weeks ago, they were after six new design team members. They picked me!! Yipeee!! I already work with Susan the DT Co-ordinator over on Lexi's blog, so I feel more comfortable already knowing someone.

Here is a list of the five other new members, so you can check out their blogs too:

A super talented bunch I must say, I can't wait to start working with them!! :D

I have already posted these photos before, but I thought I would showcase Marvin the Bat again!! What a cutie. This is the image that made me fall in love with The Stamping Bazaar in the first place!! Love him!

I'm off to reply to some mail and then munch away on my chicken pasta bake. A late tea.. I know, but I won't be going to bed until stupid o'clock anyway *big grin* One thing at the top of my to do list before bed is to say a Hello to my new team members! :) xo

The sponsor this week is

.. with the prize of A BIG SELECTION OF RIBBONS up for grabs.

Here is my DT take on the challenge this week

Is this not the prettiest CD you've ever seen? It certainly wouldn't play any music but it makes a cute home decor item for Christmas. Not only have I been trying to get on top of making Christmas cards, but I have been trying my hand at Christmas decorations too. This is one of the first, how'd you like it?

Of course, I had to use Beanie Anya.. again.. and paper piece her.. again. I can't help myself. It's not like I don't have any other Christmas stamps, infact, I have loads. I'm just a sucker for The Greeting Farm!! I have used Basic Grey Jovial papers and doilies, along with a Tim Holtz ticket and some snowflakes I cut with my slice.

I would like to enter this creation into these challenges:

× CCEE Stampers - Add a Doily

Simply Sassy GDT Call..

I'm not gonna lie.. I almost fell off my seat when THIS post popped up in my news feed the other day. Having only bought my first Simply Sassy stamps a few weeks ago - I fell in total love with them. I knew I had to give this a go.

Pop on over to the Simply Sassy Blog for details, but for now.. here is the sketch to follow for GDT submissions..

If you read my blog, you'll know that sketch challenges are often my favourite. So I had real fun with this one! I had a design in mind, and a paper collection I knew I wanted to use, but.. I couldn't decide on the stamp (typical), so I used three!!

First off I made a card following the above sketch.

Artistic Goddess
All patterned papers and rubons are from Basic Greys Origins collection. I have made it my mission to use up at least one whole paper pack before my patterned paper buying ban finishes!! LOL.

The tags are from a new set by PTI called Tiny Tags, stamps and co-ordinating dies. I have threaded a Tim Holtz safety pin through my bow made from SU! Old Olive taffeta ribbon.

This photo shows the pull out, which is a rub on from BG.

I have really got into the habit of decorating the inside of my cards now - and this one is no exception. Using the same spellbinders nestie labels fourteen die I used for the front, I cut some SU!Garden Green cardstock to make a sentiment panel and embellished with more of the PTI Tiny Tags.

I then wanted to make a matching tag (the colour green was really growing on me by this point).

My Friend Kitty
The tag was cut using my MM Slice on the 4" setting. I then added to it using some embossed Kraft cardstock along the bottom to ground the image. The ticket sentiment has been created using Whimsy Stamps Friendship Ticket Sentiments and co-ordinating die. I have added another rubon to the corner and added faux stitching around the outside of the tag. To finish it off I cut my own ring reinforcer from the patterned paper and added some Lime Green Bakers Twine from The Ribbon Girl.
And finally, a box to fill with goodies - which of course matches the card and tag, using High School Student. I think this cutie will remain one of my all time faves - she reminds me of me, plus she was the first ever Simply Sassy stamped I inked up and coloured. She is a dream to colour, although saying that, all of the stamps I've coloured so far have been awesome.

High School Student
A bag full of goodies inc. some chocolate. Mmm. This bag is the perfect size to fit 5.5"x4.25" cards, 5"x5" mini albums, all sorts of crafting goodness. A big thank you to my friend Roz over on the Trimcraft Forum for supplying us all with this tutorial. I have clasped the handles together with a simple clip. It keeps the box a uniform rectangle with no bulging!

Paper piecing is one of my favourite techniques when it comes to images. I have paper pieced her shoes, lunch box, and one of her many books. Sorta looks like grid paper, don't you think?

Isn't that just the neatest edge you've ever seen? So clever.

This is the back of the bag - I simply added a mini envelope cut using the Mini Envelope die from PTI. I filled it with a journal spot from the Origins collection and a Tim Holtz ticket. White faux stitching finishes the edges off.

Supplies:
Cardstock: Bazzill - Kraft, Cream; SU! Garden Green, Old Olive, Whisper White
Patterned paper: Basic Grey - Origins
Stamps: Simply Sassy - High School Student, Artistic Goddess, My Friend Kitty; PTI - Tiny Tags; SU! - Afterthoughts, Vintage Vogue; Waltzingmouse - Labels Four
Ink: Memento - Tuxedo Black; SU! - Crumb Cake, Old Olive, Soft Suede, Sage Shadow; Versamark

Tools: WRMK - Corner Chomper; WRMK - Sew Easy

Misc: Basic Grey - Origins Rubons; Tim Holtz - Mini Pins, Journaling Tickets; White embossing powder; white gel pen; brown fineliner, Cosmo Cricket Brown Tiny Type alpha stickers; My Little Shoe Box Celery alpha stickers; green pearl beads and stickpins; SU! - silver brads

Pear Tree Designs - Challenge #43 - Sketch

Thank you to everyone who joined in with our 'Mother's Day' challenge last week. It was great to see all the pretty entries - projects and cards just for our Mams/ Mums/ Moms. I hope you made your Mams Mother's Day special. Congratulations to the winner TILLY. If you can get in touch with Donna she will arrange your prize.

The challenge this week is a SKETCH challenge. Here it is..

I love sketches, such great fun to work with and you can interpret them in so many different ways - I can't wait to see what you come up with.

The sponsor this week is

and the PRIZE up for grabs is 3 x digital images of the winner's choice from their shop!

[Apologies now for the quality of the images, I haven't a clue what was going on!! Jeezz]

Meet Taski - from Crafty Sentiments, isn't she just adorable? I love her big wings and her hair has so much depth to it. The photos really don't do the hair justice. IRL it looks quite real, but hey. Photos only tell you half the story.

I have created my own backing paper again, just using standard white paper, inks and a blending tool. Super easy, and that way you can match colours to your projects.

I have coloured this adorable (and usually I don't take to fairies..) image using ProMarkers - I have given her a lilac dress and grey/ blue socks. I wish I had taken a note of the purples I had used for her dress, as looking back they blend really well. The word 'Happy' is from a PTI set stamped in Pale Plum SU! ink onto Naturals Ivory cardstock.

Here is a picture with the tag exposed. The sentiment reads 'You make me SMiLE' and this is from a Hero Arts set, again, stamped in Pale Plum SU! ink. I have used a couple of SU! rub ons - the name of the collection escapes me. It's the one with tonnes of flowers and stuff, you get a load in both white and brown. SU!'s rub ons are really high quality too, but you wouldn't expect anything less would you? *wink* I have added a (I think) Prima flower I got given in a swap along with a PaperMania brad to the top of the tag to act as the pull-y bit. It also helps to embellish the card in the area so stated on the sketch.

Here is a close up of the tag. I went around the outside with a brown fineliner and added some faux stitching to mirror that on the main card.

I have decorated the inside using the same paper from the DCWV stack I used on the front, cut using my nesties and embellished with some ink and faux stitching. A purple gem has been added to the top and bottom of the ovals.

I would like to enter this card into these challenges:
× Dream Valley Challenges - Things with Wings
× Shannon's Sentiments - Include and Oval
× Digis with Attitude - Anything Goes

Thanks for stopping by. Head on over to PTD now to see what the rest of the DT have come up with using this sketch!
