Here is my take on the challenge..
I have used the gorgeous Christmas Night digi for this card, available HERE. I thought I best get cracking with my Christmas cards for this year, and when I was looking through my patterned paper, Basic Grey's Jovial collection really stood out to me with all the spotty and stripey designs it had going on!!
The gingham ribbon (stripes ;)) was originally black and white - but I ran some Frayed Burlap DI over it to match it to the rest of the card. I used some packaging paper in the background which I layered onto black cardstock and stitched around. I did use striped paper near the bottom of the card - but all of the layers and embellishments have hidden it.
The ticket sentiment is from a stamp set by Whimsy stamps and the black gems dotted about here and there are from Prima.
This is the first time I have tried the 'Out of the Nestie' technique or whatever other fancy name it's got.. and I really like it. It's so straightforward, I don't know what I haven't tried it sooner. I guessed you've gotta have the right sort of image, and this one was just perfect. I have coloured the lady using ProMarkers - as usual and highlighted the area around her with C Greys. I sorta wish I had made her robe red too - but I have such a hard time working with red alcohol pens that I try to steer clear of them. I used Large Ovals and Labels Fourteen nesties to layer up my image - I really like how that looks - it's a layering style I have used on a few cards lately.
