Simply Squares

For my Sassy Inspiration today I thought I would break out an older image, but one I haven't inked up before.. 'Hippy Love' available HERE at Funky Kits. I had such a fun time colouring her with ProMarkers, her hair is just beautiful!! [If you would like a list of ProMarkers used, please let me know].

Anywho. The Sassy challenge over on the Facebook Group this week is - Squares from Scraps. Well, I had to have a go. I made a card a while ago using a 'quilting' technique for paper - made with help from an intricate embossing folder.. so I thought I would have another go!!

Here is it..

I used scraps of paper from my Sassafrass Indie Girl collection - such gorgeous papers and perfect for this Hippy image!! I used a 1.25" square punch to ensure all squares were the same size, I then adhered them all to a thin piece of standard computer paper measuring 3.75". I then took a relatively intricate embossing folder, this particular one is called Snow Cap from Sizzix for Basic Grey (okay, it's a Christmas one, but I won't tell if you don't..).. and ran it through my CB. I then went over the raised design with some Frayed Burlap DI, as well as around the edges of that portion and the edges of my Kraft cardbase.

The taffeta ribbon is Old Olive from SU! and I've made two custom stick pins to go along with the colour combo. I stamped a sentiment using mini alpha stamps from Studio G onto some more Kraft cardstock in SU! Old Olive ink, rounded one edge (because you know I gotta!!) and added the mini-est of mini buttons from Basic Grey.

I would like to enter this card into these challenges:

  2. I love the quilting effect & to have dry embossed is a lovely idea for it just makes it all a whole. The way you have co-ordinated those pins is superb & I like all your attention to detail. The use of Kraft is delightful - I just don't know how you manage to do all this as well as studying.
