Well, the day has arrived! *big grin* My first ever post for Sentimental Sundays!! I was totally over the moon when Ann got in touch with me to tell me I had secured myself a place on the team full of Sentimental Fools. Heehee. Ever since I got invited to the Yahoo group I've had a total blast. The ladies are awesome and the group is really relaxed and carefree. Such an inspiring team to work with.
Anywho, enough of my waffle.. the challenge this week over at Sentimental Sundays is..
"INSPIRED BY A SONG"
Here is my take on the challenge:
I was inspired by the song "Rockstar" by Nickleback.
'Cause we all just wanna be big rockstars
And live in hilltop houses, drivin' fifteen cars
Sometimes when I listen to this song, I question whether we all really do want to big rockstars?! It seems like many of the new artists now-a-days are so detatched from reality that they have lost their head in the clouds. Plus, I don't know about you, but I certainly wouldn't want to drive 15 cars, petrol prices make it hard enough to keep one car running! LOL. Although I wouldn't complain about a hilltop house! ;)
I have used a sentinment designed by Ann Vento for Raindrop Echo Designs, many of which can be seen HERE over at Whimsy Stamps. I die cut the sentiment using the largest of the labels four nesties and distressed the edges with Old Paper DI. I stamped some musical notes in SU! Crumb Cake and Pumpkin Pie ink and added some strips of Pumpin Pie ribbon at different lengths (a perfect way to use up your scraps ;)) on the cardbase for some added interest.
As for my embellishments I stamped a few star prints from a PTI set onto New Leaf and Spring Moss cardstock, again from PTI. I then punched them out using a large star punch from SU!, added some faux stitching around the edge with white gel pen, adhered them together and added a button which I had threaded with orange bakers twine from The Ribbon Girl. I then threaded some more bakers twine through a mini button from BG as well as a resin button I handmade myself using a mold from eBay.
Finally I rounded the two right side corners to draw the eye across the entire cardfront. I found it balanced the card a little better - plus, I'm slightly addicted to corner rounding *big grin*
I hope you can join in with the challenge this week, pop on over to the SS Blog now and take a peak at the amazing inspiration the other ladies on the DT have provided you all with this week!!
