Some Odd Girl Challenge - ::*Paper Piecing*::

It was officially three weeks on Monday that the new term started for us newbies and vets over at Some Odd Girl. Can you believe it?! I know I sure can't - the time has flown by.. I just hope the rest of the time doesn't fly too fast - I've been having a blast. Although most of the girls will probably say I've been like a little mouse - I've been keeping up to date on the action over on the DT blog. Boy oh boy, these girls are TALENTED!!

Okay, so enough of the waffle.. time for another challenge over at Some Odd Girl.. incase you hadn't guessed already. This time round want to see..

PAPER PIECING

Something I just LOVE doing.. something I used to do all of the time, and something I wish I done a lot more of.

So.. here you have

Almost every part of her that was paper piece-able.. has been paper pieced, except her little shrug. I coloured her skin, hair and shrug using ProMarkers and fussy cut her out leaving a little white border. I have added some Souffle pen to her eyes.. and guess what I've just noticed?.. In fact, I'm going to see if you guys can tell first. All crafters say we should never point our mistakes, right?

I have used some papers from First Edition Hideaway collection - at first I was REALLY unsure about them.. they so aren't me.. but I forced myself to use them.. and I actually quite like how the card turned out. Half of the pack are specialty papers with glitter and stuff, so I used those for the paper piecing parts, the other half are double sided patterns which I used for the rest of the card.

I stamped the scalloped oval from the stamp set onto some more of the specialty paper and cut it out, leaving a border. I then stamped the oval again onto kraft and cut out the centre to form a panel for my sentiment from PTI stamped in Sage Shadow.

Lastly I added some WOC goodness and some Prima Pearls along with some Seafoam coloured sheer ribbon from The Ribbon Girl - but it is almost too sheer to see against the papers, although the colour match is perfect! LOL. Don't you just love that? When you buy new patterned paper and you find loads of inks and papers and embellishments you already have in your stash that match? Magical moment! :)

Here is a peak at the inside of the card, with a slice of the same patterned paper from the front, alongside a yellow pearl brad and a message panel with the same Thank You sentiment from PTI. All edges have been distressed and doodled. You know I gotta! ;)

Be sure to head on over to the challenge blog to check out what the other girls have got for ya this week! ;) Sweet Thinkin' Mae is a star attraction this time round - me thinks she lends herself well to paper piecing.
