Tickled Pink CHRISTMAS Challenge - Embossing

Yikes, sorry I'm posting this so late!! My new job has me sooo drained and I've barely started, I don't think this ridiculous weather is helping either! HA! I haven't made a card for like days and I feel so lost - but I just haven't got the energy. I had too many errands to run today and the weather has been H-O-T - so by the time I was finished I just needed to sit and chill. Nemo fit the bill. There was an article in a paper today claiming Britain was hotter than Mumbai yesterday - CRAZY!! Roll on Autumn/Winter. HATE the heat. Anywho.. on to the actual thing you've arrived here for..

It's time for a new Christmas challenge over at Tickled Pink. The theme for the month of August is..

EMBOSSING

This could be dry or heat embossing. The options are endless as for the layers and embellishments you can emboss. I've followed the new sketch by Kellie over at Pink {INK} Sketch challenges so the layout is pretty simple.

I've included both heat and dry embossing on my card. I used a gorgeous snowflake embossing folder from Sizzix on my faveee kraft cardstock and highlighted the embossed shapes using some Frayed Burlap DI. I have also heat embossed my patterned paper using some TH embossing powder and a text stamp from Waltzing Mouse.. see the next photo for a close up.

I have gone around the outside of my card base with acrylic paint - it sorta looks snowy.. or not *rolls eyes* and added some extra doodles.

Here is a close up of the heat embossing. The Tim Holtz 'Distress Powder' - it has such a neat textured once it has been heat set and you can sand it down to give an even more distressed effect. It feels a lot more gritty than other embossing powder. I have used it only once before, and I seriously don't know why I don't use it more often.

As for embellishments I have added a couple of  die cut tickets from Whimsy Stamps alongside a gorgeous deep red rose from WOC. I have placed a strip of spotty grosgrain ribbon and added a miniture little bow with miniture tails. HA!

NOTE: This is a month long challenge. Only Ticked Pink images should be used, these include: Lil Lolita and Lil Lads, Lil Pets and Lil Pinkettes. The TPS DT are split into two when it comes to the Christmas challenges. Half of us will post cards on the 1st Tuesday of the month and the other half will post on the 3rd Tuesday of the month as a gentle reminder and with some extra inspiration for you all!! Got it? Head on over to the TPS Challenge blog now to see what the ladies have got for ya this week! ;)
