Pollycraft Challenge #100 - *//Celebrations\\*

Monday, Monday! ;) Heehee. How is everyone? Did you enjoy the weekend?! The sun was beating down here aaall weekend. It's had me worn out! I can't complain though - I got a few hours in the garden with a good read. This one is Cold Kill by Neil White.. incase you're reading Coops! ;)

I guess you're wondering what is going on? If you're even in the right place. Well let me tell ya!! As most of you already know I was picked by Pollycraft to be a new DT member late Monday night, along with three other very lucky ladies!! This is such an awesome opportunity - I was totally debating whether or not to even apply - but I bit the bullet on the Sunday before the DT call closed and just went for it. Boy, I'm glad I did!! :D So, this is my first ever post as official Pollycraft DT member!! *high five*

pollycraft monday challenge

So this week.. we have a very special challenge for you all.. this is the 100th Pollycraft challenge.. and we want to see..

CELEBRATIONS / OPTIONAL STARS AND STRIPES

Woah, that could be anything, a birthday, an anniversary, the birth of a new baby. I've chosen 'friendship' - because friendship is a gift to celebrate, right? I can't wait to see what you come up with.

The PRIZE this week?! Well, it's a special one.. check this..

I know you like that! ;) Damn, I wish I could enter!! LOL. Plus.. since this is the 100th challenge - which is a milestone in itself - Paula is throwing in a disc of 100 digis?! HELLO!! You can't pass up on an opportunity like that. Anyone entering using the celebrations theme, and the optional stars and stripes will get a second entry.

Stay tuned for another surprise later in the post!

Here is my card for this challenge. I have used the cutest 'Swinging Friends' from the Swings and Slides collection. She and her little kitty friend are available HERE at the Pollycraft Shop. I have coloured the image using Copics and PMs. Oh.. I have a thing for cats. I love cats. Of all sizes. Especially ginger cats. So naturally her little kitty friend had to be ginger. Isn't he cyoooot?!

These images just BEG me to use pink on my creations. Honestly.. for someone who had a phobia of pink when I first started crafting.. I really think I'm warming to it. Pink cardstock, pink patterned paper, pink sentiment, pink t-shirt, pink embellishments!! Come onnn! ;) Pink button, pink distressing. HA!

I have distressed the edges of my panel using Victorian Velvet DI, again.. pink.. and added some faux stitching using a brown fineliner. But you knew that, right? It's just standard with me these days! LOL. I have adhered the panels all skewed - I sorta like it!

As for embellishments, I have added a few flowers which I have punched using a MS punch, some white liquid pearls and Diamond Stickles, and a gorgeous blue bow with ribbon from The Ribbon Girl with a pink button and some twine tied around. No WOC I hear you say, well.. stocks are dwindling.. I gotta tread carefully! ;)

How do you like my first ever attempt at a sky background?! HA! I don't think it's too bad! I mean.. it could be worse :) I quite like the effect. It adds something else so as the image panel isn't totally blank. I have created my sentiment in word using Nizzy's Font and created two seperate banners which I have curled to add extra dimension.

I managed to squeeze in some stars (a star stamp around my image panel) and some stripes (my patterned paper). Get me!! Going all out here! LOL.

Here you can see the dimension of the banners. Neat effect achieved by simply curling your paper around a pencil or the end of a brush.

As for the next surprise.. I (courtesy of Paula) am giving away the 'Swinging Friends' digi which I have used on this project to one lucky random commenter. Can I hear a *yaaaay!!*
