Sentimental Sundays #65 - Focus on the Sentiment

Hey guys, how has your weekend been? Sunny around parts of the UK I hope. Warm thoughts winging their way to our friends in the Southern Hemisphere and my thoughts go out to the friends and family of lost and injured loved ones in Norway. It has been horrific to say the very least.

I have been really ill all weekend. I've been fetching up, for want of a better word, lots of large clumps of phlegm from the back of my throat. It makes me feel sick thinking about it - my boyfriend is worried incase it goes onto my chest, so I booking a docs appointment next week, just incase. A chest infection is the last thing I need!

Onto happier things please..

Time for a truely sentimental challenge today over at Sentimental Sundays..

We want to see

FOCUS ON THE SENTIMENT

Couldn't be anymore fitting, right? We want to see those words and phrases taking centre stage on your projects this week. So show us what you've got!!

Head on over to the Sentimental Sundays Challenge Blog where you can find details of the prize up for grabs, get loads of amazing inspiration for the other sentimental fools AND grab the freebie sentiments for this week.

So here's the deal. I just wanna make sure that it's not just me.

19/07/11
Please ignore the trousers. They are not my usual attire. Those my friends.. are
PJ bottoms. I find them most comfy. The more comfy I am.. the
longer I can sit and craft for. That is my excuse and I'm sticking to it!
I count 13 pegs of ribbon, some pegs have two types of ribbon on. I'm not even going to count them all, because it pains me. It pains me to admit that even though I have ALL OF THESE SHADES OF BLUE I STILL couldn't find a shade I was happy with for this card. So in the end.. I went with the baby blue grosgrain 6 pegs from the left at the bottom of the peg. Shoot me now.

I NEED MORE RIBBON.
[Update: I placed an order with TRG and I got 3 more shades of blue ribbon + the aqua mini kit.. because of this whole ordeal!! Seriously. You can NEVER have enough ribbon, right? Tell me, you can never have enough ribbon!! LOL. Ribbon makes me happy! :)]

For my card I just HAD to use a sentiment from Raindrop Echo Designs Cute and Cuddly Set - Basic Grey Max and Whiskers collection was PERFECT for it!! My 6x6 pad had been sitting unloved for a while so this was the perfect excuse to break it out along with the coordinating rubons I found hiding down the side of the drawer!

I printed the digi onto some More Mustard cardstock from SU! - perfect match with this collection - and cut it out using a labels sixteen nestie, this set is growing on me, I gotta admit. I've had it for just as long as my labels four and fourteen but something about it didn't appeal to me right away - Goodness knows why I bought it in the first place. I embossed the die cut and lightly inked the edges and main panel using Frayed Burlap DI. I added some doodles and set it aside.

I searched Feline Playful for a sketch I thought would work well with this challenge and Mojo Monday did not disappoint. I cut a large circle from some cat patterned paper from the BG collection using another nestie and added that to my layout consisting of brown patterned paper and More Mustard cardstock layered together with a white stripe of patterned paper down the right hand side and some cream loopy trim from The Ribbon Girl to finish off the sketch.

Here is a close up of the sentiment. So funny, sooo cute, and sooo sooo true!! My friends cat recently had two kittens.. one ginger tom and a little tabby girl (wth are female cat's called?!). I literally begged my mam for the ginger tom but she said Shadow - our current cat - would probably leave home. I couldn't be coping with the trauma of that. No way. No how. I wish they stayed kittens forever. He could have quite happily lived in my pocket!!

Here is a photo of the inside of the card which I decorated with another die cut, a slice of patterned paper and a rub on fromthe same collection. I rarely show the inside of my cards - but I always decorate them. Good way to use up the scraps of paper and it makes the whole project more finished me thinks!!

I would like to enter this card into these challenges:
× Mojo Monday - #200
[Paper collection is O.L.D]
× Creative Craft Challenges - Let's 3D It

  4. Love the way you did your sentiment. I also love the More Mustard SU paper. It always fascinates me because the color is not attractive by itself, but every time I use it I am in awe of the results.
No you can never get enough ribbon.
My prayers also go out to the poor people of Norway.

  5. love the ribbon bobbins, such a good idea, but its always the way we never have the colours we need… hence my new love for SU its much easier to colour match!! I love those PJs too… i think i'd be wearing them all the time too if I had a pair! I wear trousers that have silicone glue on.. i know which ones they are for crafting in lol lol

  10. I love your card! Great design!

I have the same problem with ribbon. I can have 20 different spools of ribbon (of the same color) and I NEVER have the shade I want. Now that I have Copics, I simply color the ribbon, but it still isn't the same.
